I am an architect.
My architecture practice is primarily residential. I enjoy the challenge of creating holistic new dwellings as well as remodeling and rehabilitating structures of all types, sizes and vintages. My work is not focused on any particular style, but it always involves thoughtful material choices and attention to important details. My projects range from $50 thousand to $1.5 million.
I am a designer and maker of furniture.
I apply the architectural rigor and skill I acquired at the University of Michigan, practiced in the model building studio of SOM’s Chicago office and honed over three decades of independent practice to every project. As a designer, I am always looking for new challenges and opportunities to integrate pure architecture with creatively unique features and spaces. Custom cabinetry, built-ins, and furniture are signature elements in my work.
I am a photographer.
My design work starts with the consideration of a single element. Curiosity and research follow. Sketches. Prototypes. Blueprints. Process transforms the initial consideration into a concrete, actionable plan. Photography offers me the freedom to observe without process, to investigate without intent. I have found the smallest details most remarkable and inspiring.
